dora the explorer • urban jungle

Bogor, my hometown, is superbly unique, like no others. There may be a lot of trees near your residence and it's not actually rare to have a national park or botanical garden in town, but I love Bogor like I love the rain. And the rain is a big part of Bogor, along with angkot and Kebun Raya Bogor!

Yes, I'm going to blog about Kebun Raya Bogor, Bogor's mini-forest. I often came here with friends, families, and I always find new things to photograph here. So many spots for photoshoot and photo-hunting, so many interesting places and trinkets, so many memories to be cherished.

So, basically, in my mind, Kebun Raya Bogor is the front yard of Istana Bogor, Sir Stamford Raffles' residence in those colonial days. The palace is so cool! My Ma said that there's a lot of artworks in there, but I never actually got the time to visit it personally. If you want to visit Istana Bogor, they always do Open House around the month June for Bogor's Anniversary on June 3rd.

Museum Zoologi! Been long since the last time I visited this place. This museum is kinda attached to Kebun Raya Bogor, the ticket is integrated. Look at those cute big cats! And the skeleton are from a Panthera tigris sumatrae (or was it javanica?)

There are a lot of preserved animals here, including the Dufan's mascot, Nasalis larvatus! I always thought that he was an alien... Oh well.

And this is the skeleton of a Balaenoptera musculus. SO BIG. And then my brother started to lecture me about his (or her) bones, and then told me that whales' ancestors used to live in the land, moved to the sea, and adapting, lost their back legs, hands turning into flipper... Then all I can think about is the fact that their nose moved into the top of their head.

IS ALL OF THAT TRUE?! Or is my brother lying to me?

A preserved butterfly in Museum Zoologi. Flightless, yet posed like it's flying.

SPIDERS, and not preserved. Found 'em lurking around in Kebun Raya Bogor. Cool, huh? I always has this fascination for spiders, but they scare me, haha. To think that I am that close with them, and the big ones too... *shivers*

For those who've seen Once Upon A Twist, 'twas in Kebun Raya Bogor too! This place is just absolutely wicked. Visit it sometimes! :D

“Gaea?” Leo shook his head. “Isn’t that Mother Nature? She’s supposed to have, like, flowers in her hair and birds singing around her and deer and rabbits doing her laundry.”
“Leo, that’s Snow White,” Piper said.

Semalam aku mimpi tentang petualangan:
hilang diantara naung bintang,
  dan langit milik sendiri;
pikirku: mungkin aku akan bangun sebuah galaksi.

Dan kamu, beruang kecil,
akan menuntunku pulang.

curhatnya • princess ariel helmet of justice and flower power

Only two weeks and a lot of things happened!

The end of November to the beginning of December has been helluva days to brave, siriusly. What's with exams and assignments, the later never cease to exist and keep on growing a pile even when I made an effort to finish them. Apparently, the school loathe senior year so much they give us a last-minute assignment due in a week. And instead of doing that assignment, and finishing some I haven't done yet, I made a blog post.

Right on this date last year, the whole class of 2013 went on a school program called Live In, where we the city people went to rural area and tried living humbly with the countryside people. Twas a good time, in Nanggulan, Jogjakarta. Lotsa rice field, and fresh air, and warm faces. The day after tomorrow, 2014 will go there and I envy them so much! Damn, I miss it there. And I miss the whole fiasco with bus #2! Amazing shit, that thing was!

Anyway, onto the happier thoughts: Last weekend was a blast! Had a sleepover at my best friend's house, and to sum it all up, it consists of braving the Saturday night traffic with the awesome Princess Ariel Helmet of Justice and Flower Power, hanging out with the girls at McDonalds, getting my first Happy Meal in years, chick-flicks midnight, and a heap of pancakes slathered with nutella and a cup of coffee for a lazy Sunday morning.

 Life's good!

curhatnya • kiwis & almonds

One of the perks of having an auntie over is the fact that there will be some unusual foods kipping on your fridge, haha! I rarely had kiwi since it's so bloody expensive for me, and suddenly, my auntie bought some. And she left her food here too when she went back to her home; some biscuits and coffee and a pack of almonds. And another perk of having an auntie over, especially around your birthday, is some extra cash. YAY.

Anyway, I'm here not to show off about the kiwi, although it's so photogenic in my opinion (ja, I'm neanderthal like that, sometimes), but to have a last minute whine about the upcoming exams the day after tomorrow. Eight days. Thirteen subjects. Loads of materials. The teachers seem so eager to kill us all senior year students with all of those unintelligible things to study.

I can't remember how I survived freshmen year with seventeen subjects to indulge to.

I'm just so eager for this semester to end. I'm impatient for yule hols.

Christmas!

But for now, I have to study so I don't fail my exams. The woe of being in senior year with upcoming final examinations getting nearer and nearer each days. And I still have some assignments in progress for this semester too.

Assignments, assignments everywhere.

curhatnya • (no) electricity

Welp, this is what happened when PLN decided to cut down the electricity around my area and I got real bored. I mean, nearly seven or eight hours approximately? I can't even sit still in minutes, and I have to stay in the dark for hours, watching the candles worn themselves out one by one, with dying cellphone and iPod nonetheless. I started fiddling around with my camera and suddenly my Dad put this and that around for me to photograph, hahaha.

Thank God for my Daddy!
